Trackers succumb to Gold

first_imgThe Midget Tracker-Flyers handled Maroon, but not Gold, in a 1-2 weekend against the Calgary Edge teams.The NEBC and Yukon squad began the weekend in style, with a 3-2 overtime win over Edge Maroon, on Friday night at the North Peace Arena.  Brett Roulston fired a scorcher over Calgary’s goalie Lewis Libin’s shoulder in the extra frame, to give the Tier 1 Midgets their first win over an Edge team this year.Daylen Pearson and Logan Daneluk scored the regulation goals, while Ryley Carter turned away 20 shots for the win.- Advertisement -On Saturday, the Trackers took a shot at Edge Gold, but couldn’t dig out of a 4-0 hole, in a 6-2 final.  Tyler Akeroyd and Cody Poggenpohl scored for NEBC in a losing effort.Ryley Carter got to start his third game in a row on Sunday in Dawson Creek, in the rematch against Edge Gold, but Edge goaltender Archie hall bested him by one save, in a 4-3 Edge win.The Trackers got within one goal with five minutes remaining, but couldn’t jam in the winner, despite a late powerplay opportunity.  Tyler Akeroyd led the way offensively on Sunday, with two goals and an assist.Advertisement The Tracker-Flyers play a pair of games in Fort McMurray next weekend.last_img
