Two of the men whipped out guns from their pants waist, held the pump attendant at gunpoint, and relieved him of an undisclosed sum of cash. The cashier who was in the supermarket was meantime approached by the other two men, who pretended to be customers requesting a pack of cigarettes. As he opened a section of the grill to give the men the cigarettes, they pointed guns at him and demanded the cash kept in a box under the register. Without hesitation, and being fearful for his life, the cashier immediately complied with the men’s demand. The men then made good their escape on foot.Guyana Times understands that the robbery might have been an inside job, because the robbers knew exactly where the money was kept in the supermarket. The pump attendant and the cashier were questioned. Police investigation into this incident are continuing. This is not the first time this service station has been robbed by armed men. Back in November, 2017, three pump attendants were robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by a lone gunman. It was reported that the gunman, who was dressed in camouflage clothing and had his face partially concealed by a hat, had entered the gas station and approached the women, who were standing on the eastern side of the compound. He then held them at gunpoint, relieved them of the cash they had in their possession, and then escaped on foot. No one was arrested for that robbery.last_img read more
