Director Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story had a live-streamed panel where we were introduced to the heroes of the movie, plus some costumes and props on the convention floor that gave us a better look at the Empire’s look and armaments. This weekend, San Diego Comic-Con rages in California and the Lucasfilm Pavilion has some of those same costumes on display, plus one other. There was one alien character from Rogue One who popped up at Comic-Con, and he’s brand, spankin’ new.The alien in question is part of the line-up of costumes from Rogue One on display. Director Krennic’s white uniform is flanked by two Deathtroopers on one side, in the middle are the costumes of Jyn Erso and her band of rebels, but to the right was a strange alien no one had ever seen before.Say hello to Edrio Two Tubes. When he first appeared at preview night, no one new anything about him other than he was placed apart from both factions and looked to be entirely a costume, like a Stormtrooper, not like the other humanoid costumes which had mannequin heads. The only other description we have comes from the Star Wars Facebook page which displayed some pictures with:Edrio Two Tubes is a mercenary pilot who flies alongside his eggmate, Benthic. The two share the nickname derived from the breathing apparatus that allows their Tognath physiology to process oxygen atmospheres. Edrio’s home world Yar Togna was conquered and occupied by the Empire, forcing him to flee as a refugee. Desiring to strike back at the Empire, Edrio and Benthic have allied with Saw Gerrera.Looks like we’ll see this guy and another (his eggmate) fighting alongside Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera in the movie. In the new Star Wars canon, Gerrera’s troops used tactics some considered terrorism to fight the Empire. With this guy being a mercenary pilot and his desire to take revenge against the Empire, it almost sounds like he’s more bounty hunter than rebel.last_img read more
