Sandvik Mining and Construction has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with International Mining Supplies (IMS) based on the Sunshine Coast Queensland, Australia for the worldwide supply of the ‘Explorer’ plastic core trays and accessories. IMS has been one of the market leaders in the development of core sample trays and core boxes since 1995 when they launched the ‘Explorer’ core tray. The ‘Explorer’ was one of the first core trays in the world to use superior strength polypropylene. They were also the first to introduce built in handles, and a labelling facility and clip in core markers. The ‘Explorer’ core tray is now widely used throughout the industry because of its exceptional quality and improved safety and handling features. It is produced using highly UV stabilised polypropylene which gives it longevity in the field. There are numerous features built-in to assist the geologists, the plastic core trays are safer to handle with no sharp edges, they stack safely for transport and storage, are non-magnetic for easy magnetic susceptibility readings and will not rust in tropical climates.“We believe in continually improving what we offer to the mining and exploration industries and we look forward to providing them with even further improvements and new ideas over time” says Tanju Kadir, General Manager, IMS. “A new core tray series available soon is a breakthrough in design since it will not only stack for safe transport and storage of diamond drill core, but also nest to minimise warehousing space required, and freight costs” he explains. This global distribution agreement formalises a relationship that is already working well in Australia. Globally, the agreement complements Sandvik Mining and Construction’s exploration drilling and core storage and handling product range.
